Putting Consumers At The Center
When I started out to write this post I was thinking about writing about “How to find a profitable niche in affiliate marketing”. After doing some research I found out that I was behind the times. I think we are out growing “the money is in the niche” mentality and thinking more of the consumer.
From what I have researched 70% percent of Americans own a smartphone, I’m sure more then that have a computer or tablet. It is definitely more convenient to shop on line then to go out to a store and shop. You can buy groceries to clothes on line these days. Seriously, how many of you are an Amazon associate. As an consumer you are being catered to by stores like Kohl’s, Macys, Popa Johns if you want a pizza, Wayfair if you want to buy home furnishings. You name it, its being sold on line. Along with that they have an app for your convenience also. Yes, catering to the consumer is the new norm.
How do I make money with this consumer centered marketing.
If you are interested in making money with this new affiliate marketing concept there are several ways.
- Sign up to a online advertising company like Commission Junction
- Become a affiliate at Shopify, one of the most popular affiliate programs out there
- You can look at shareasale
- And of course there is amazon and you can access their associates website at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/home
- Here is a nice little pdf from Gaz Cooper about how to get started with Amazon
This is the link: Killing It With Amazon
We have 4 awesome affiliate networks you could make money with when it comes to”consumer is the new norm” which is trending now. This is great if your into vendor+affiliate network+affiliate+buyer.
Lets see what Amazon has in the digital products niche. There are no shipping fees associated with this all your customer or subscriber has to do is download the product to his/her computer. Amazon is involved here due to their kindle line of tablets, keep in mind they do have a shipping fee, the customer can go around that by joining their prime program. With digital products there are no shipping fees of course, like books for kindle.
Another thing is you do not have any relationship with your customers, in fact you do not even know who they are. You don’t even need a list. In fact its kinda like your working for these affiliate networks, your even referred to as a associate.
If you want to have your own business and I mean being your own boss, having responsibility for yourself and your subscribers who put their trust in you I would not put my self into the hands of these affiliate networks. By the way here is a link where I did some of my research:
I take that back, if I see some thing that I like I will probably tell my subscribers about it. In other words start building your list, that is your road to owning your own business and use these affiliate networks as a tool.
