List Building for Your Business is Very Important

In my last blog Consumer Is The New Norm I talked about how the consumer is taking over Affiliate Marketing and how you can give into that by becoming an associate for the large affiliate sites.

I am an associate for Amazon so I am not immune to that, but it is still better running your very own business.

What is the reason you want to start building a list.  The obvious reason is to get subscribers to sell them a product in order for you to make money.  Unfortunately, this is the problem also.  The reason you want to build a list is not only to make money but to have fun doing it.

Just building a list does not mean you are going to make money.  Say you get a email from somebody called Stan the Man.  You remember signing up for his list a few weeks ago, he gave you a free gift of a e-book you thought might be interesting to read.  Now he sent you a email trying to sell you this product hes an affiliate of or maybe its his own product he has created.  Are you going to buy it, maybe if you like risk taking.

Another scenario, your Stan the Man and you have built quite a large list giving away an e-book for free.  Now you have sent your new subscribers a email selling them this new product that your an affiliate of.  Ooops, no takers, you have wasted your time.  Remember, your time is valuable to.

List building for your business is very important but I am talking about the right kind of list building.  This is the kind of list building that is going to make your subscribers want to buy from you.

You have to employ certain strategies in your list building to make your list lucrative.  To succeed with your lucrative list you have to have a certain mindset.  What is your goal and how to attain it.  Decide that your list is going to have a specific purpose. Say,  I like to sell tools to my subscribers, my goal is to have my subscribers have all the tools they need in order to attain for themselves their own lucrative businesses.

In order for that to happen I need to know who my subscribers are and I do that thru advertising.

  • When I started this list I offered a free gift on my squeeze page that is copacetic to the niche I am in.
  • After I build a list with my subscribers I want to send them information pertaining to the niche and to quietly start selling some products.
  • Keywords pertaining to this niche I use in my blog and newsletter will help me with my advertising on google.

Make your squeeze page double opt-in.  This means that the subscriber opts in twice before he/she is put on your list. Explaining further your future subscriber

  • opts in once when he fills out the form on your squeeze page
  • the second time when he confirms his email

Besides having a squeeze page you can also have your very own website to advertise your product with an opt-in form.  Your website should be designed to pull in specific people that are interested in that particular niche that you are advertising.

For instance you have a self improvement website with an emphasis on marital relationships.  When you place your opt-in form on your site you will attract future subscribers that are interested in keeping their marriage healthy and there fore are interested in purchasing information about this particular subject.  You will find products like this on Clickbank if this is what interests you.
